16v ecu install - stray wire ? And start interlock
16v ecu install - stray wire ? And start interlock
Hi
I am wiring up a 16v vitara ecu into a flatdeck 413 , its out of a 91 import . It is an auto ecu so has a couple of extra wires , no worries there .
But I have one wire that is not on the wiring diagrams on suzuki info site . It goes to plug B19and is a grey wire with white stripe . Anyone know what it is ? I have nothing to match it up to and have cut out pretty all the loom .
At this stage I will leave it as is and see if it runs but if not it could be a problem
Cheers

16V ecu install - start interlock
Hi
Well the engine does not run . A couple of issues , one it would appear to be out of gas and two it has no spark .
Question , has anyone wired up an auto ecu before ? What did you do with the start interlock that runs to the ecu . i did nothing and wondering if that is my problem . A quick look at the wiring diagram and it seems the ecu gets 12v via the park switch in the auto when starting .
Will look into it in more detail tomorrow , but was hoping someone has already sorted this .
Cheers

Hi
Looked through the diagram and the start interlock needs 12v during start by the look of it . I just wired this together with the other start signal and it gave me spark . A bit of gas in the tank and now it tries to run but dies straight away . Was getting to late to carry on so will see if I can get it to run properly tomorrow .
Otherwise I will have to tear the car apart to find were that grey/white wire goes :( .
Cheers

sure B19?
i could only find on one of my manuals is B19 is a grey/wh and is for the CO limiting resistor for vehicles without O2 sensor.
this on the ecu or tranny ecu plug numbers?
also on the intake make sure u have the small box connected on the intake tract as without this or blanked off it will not idle.

Hmm
Yes definatelty B19 , its grey and white . It has a single wire o2 sensor so not sure why it would have the co2 resistor . Any chance of a copy of that page so I can trace it back in teh car maybe .
It does have a catylic converter in it .
By the box on the intake I guess you mean the air box thing . Odd it will not run witout that , have not pulled it apart to see whats inside it yet but no wires to it . Anyway its still attached , all factory up to the air filter .
Cheers

, got the engine running . Could only run it for a little bit , as it was tossing oil out the gearbox as there is no shaft in there . It took a fair bit of stuffing around to get it running , ended up putting new plugs in it but I do not think that was an issue .
It is running very high and surging from 2000 to 2700 and back down again . With teh hassles starting it etc I suspect it may have a stuck injector . Anyone had this ? Once I get a t/case in there and a shaft in then I can run it properly and see what its really doing .
Whats the best way to test for a leaky injector , without replacing them all ?
Cheers

is the surging happening after a hard blip?
as mine did this but settled it self down after a little bit of driving.
i thought it may have been ecu relearning or somthing like this?

Make sure you have everything well earthed, including the coil. To test for injectors leaking spray engine start around them and if it idles up you have a leak but i would doubt this is your problem.
Get every thing you can connected and well earthed and try again. You do have an airflow meter right?

Hi
Yep its earthed up the waszoo as the megasquirt that was in there before was very picky on earth . I was starting to think I had a few to many causing a couple of loops somewhere but it starts now .
It has everything out of the vitara in it and all wired up bar the stray wire , a/c idle up and ps idle up . Has the vss in the dash and using factory dash wiring for the vss . But since it has no t/case can't take it anywhere . It has the airflow meter , older stile flapper type .
Its at idle it surges , sets at 2g and runs up to 2700 and back again . I can't run it until med next week now as it has no t/case so it spits the g/box oil out . Once its all in I can let it run a bit longer and start checking a few things .
By leaky injector I mean a stuck open injector . I was having the same problem when setting up the megasquirt , if you did not get it fired up promptly it would flood and not run . With the megaswuirt thou I thing I may have hidden the issue by backing the fuel out at idle . now it have the factory ecu again its over fueling etc as it can;t shut the fuel off enough .
All theriory until I can run it again , will post once I have it in a state to run long term . At least its going now thou , starting to think I may have fried it as it started fine and got worse and worse over time .
