Hi,
i have a 83 Range Rover with Borg Warner auto and rebuilted heads.
The problem is that the bottom end is in very bad condition.
I am thinking now about two solutions.
First is to change the bottom end against a 3.9 or 4.4 and run the engine on LPG.
My questions is, has the 83 engine already the high comp heads or the old ones with small valves?
And is there any problems with carbies and LPG conversion?
The second solution is a 4bd1 diesel out of a Land Rover Country but i want stay on auto.
Is there a adapter kit for a 4bd1 to auto available?
Thanks for any kind of information.
Greetings
Chris

4BD1 and AUTO should never be mentioned in tha same post ya can forget about that idea unless ya like replacing autos ...
Like mark said find a 3.9 and ZF if ya that way inclined and dont go much on the 3rd pedal and using ya left arm/leg ...
Cheapest option come get the 3.5 and recoed BW35 i have here il let em go cheap and you will have a good engin and a spare 35 as ya will need it they dont last ...

Sorry, but that is wrong. No reason you can run an auto, you just need an auto that is strong enough. e.g. those listed here:lokka wrote:4BD1 and AUTO should never be mentioned in tha same post ya can forget about that idea unless ya like replacing autos ...
http://www.isuzudieselswapper.com/
There were also factory ISUZUs which ran the 4BD1 and an Aisin (or Allison?) Auto.
