Engel 4x4 Challenge - Round 4
Moderator: evanstaniland
Thanks!
Also what does the entry fee of $ 360 for the teams and the $30 for thepit crew/support crews include?
Does it include food and camping etc for the teams entry like other years?
Does the $30 for the pit /support crew include camping?
Just want to make sure so we can cater for the driver/navi's if need be.
Also entry forms have been sent out direct via email from CCDA - they may be on the CCDA website?
Cheers.

Just a few extra details re the Vic Winch and Round 4
This is going to be a private event so no public is allowed this year. This has to do with the late gaining of this property. As such the winners will be awarded trophies as it is not deemed fair to sponsors who put up prizes and money to have no prior advertising of the event and no public attending. Perhaps next year - permits allowing. In saying that - If you have friends that wish to come to the event you can add them to your entry form and they will be allowed to camp and view the event and will be considered your support team. There is no limit to the number. They do not have to be CCDA members. Only your pit crew will need to be CCDA members. The cost for your support team is $30pp and this includes a meal at the pub on Saturday night. The pub is about a 5minute walk from the campground. If their name is not on the list they will not be permitted to attend and will be turned away - no exceptions.
On another note:
As part of the organising team 4WD I would like to say that it is extremely difficult to come up with varying event venues and even harder to run them given two weeks notice of a property coming available. I for one would love to have 6 months to prepare however as you know this is not always the case and we still have to get on with the job at hand. Colac is not an option right now although every effort is being made for next year.
Bear in mind that these events were close to being cancelled. Mike Smith has been working his absolute but off to get these two final events off the ground and continuously does so to offer all of you exciting and challenging events over different terrain even if he isn't a part of the organising team.
Here is a copy of an email received today re a meeting with the council - time has to be taken off work to attend:
"I am intending to invite the CFA Region Representative to this meeting as well as Councils Environmental Services Co-ordinator.
Some of the questions that will be asked of you in relation to your application will be:-
• What work is required to the tracks to make them suitable for your purpose and do you need to import any materials?
• How are the camping areas to be serviced, eg. showers, toilets, water supply etc for events? How will camping areas be defined?
• Are there going to be fires with camping sites and how will this be managed? We have concerns regarding use of fallen timber and dead trees across the site being used and long term impact once this resource has been used.
• How will you manage and protect native grasslands on the site?
• How do you ensure the tracks are the only areas of the site used for 4WDriving?
• How will site be maintained during the bulk of the year when it is not required for events, will it be stocked etc?
• The training areas as shown on the site need to be described in greater detail as to what works are required, how will they be used, managed and maintained?
• Will stone fences be maintained or altered in any way?
• What is your fire management and exit plan for the site?
• How will access to the site be managed when not in use for events?
• Once a planning permit is given for use, further permits are not required as long as the use continues to operate in accordance with conditions and does not cease for any period of 2 years or longer. Bearing this in mind how do you see the use growing in the next 20 years and will the provisions you outline adequately cope with growth or increase in popularity?
• Can a site plan be prepared over an aerial photo using GPS system to track the areas you wish to use?"
Hope this may sheds some light and look forward to seeing you all in a couple of weeks.

ENGEL RD 4 and VWC
The 12 stages for the Engel Trophy Challenge are awesome with excellent variety: mud, water, steep hill climbs, open spaces, rocky outcrops and the best little gullies. 18 in situ anchor points are installed but if you can't reach them resort to you own ground anchor or a winch extension strap.
Stage DNF's range from 15 to 30 minutes so the navies will need to be fit. Good boots and leg protection from the thistles is essential.
Sorry about no public spectators but that's the only way we could get the permit at short notice.
It will be tough and the biggest challenge VWC teams will experience with stage extensions for the Rd 4 Teams. Smithy [/quote]

Children under 16 are free, but list her on there anyway and just note that she is under 16. That makes it easy to keep track of the number of people onsite.
Yes, please advise those who will be staying for dinner on Saturday night, we are pre-ordering the meals as the pub isn't used to catering for this large a number of people, and we need to pre-pay for the food.

Yes mate, Camp site is 2wd friendly, you can park a caravan in there if you have one
The property is at the end of Freehans Rd, off Wildwood Rd. If you look on http://www.whereis.com the bit that says "Track/Trail" is the property
Search for Freehans Rd, Wildwood, Vic
