Regarding ARB Locker prices, by mistake I got an Invoice for 2 ARB Lockers in some packing a couple of years ago, dealer price was $420.00 each, not a bad mark up for them hey, when they sell to the public for $1200.00+

What about the requirements for labeling on snatch straps now? I know it probably doesn't cover material s and manufacture but it's a step in the right direction at least.

If people are paying top dollar then they clearly dont know it's a copy and that's all bad.

Legalities and Morals aside, the sellers should make it very clear that the item is a copy and if people then pay half price then they are accepting the risk in lieue of a reasonable saving.

We dont sell them.

Wow - those spider gears look like they ARE just cast, not even hobbed. The side gears look hobbed/machined though.

I bet the instructions aren't photocopied, I bet they have been translated into flawless engrish.

The quality looks terrible. The finish is very poor. I know they are allot cheaper than an ARB, but for the money I would still expect a bit better finish than that.

Is that surface rust on the side gears? It should be lightly oiled before shipping.

Good luck "The Pig", but I personally don't like the look of it. What is it going into?

I would be loctiting all those cap screws too. The ARBs have lock tabs on all those bolts.
Be interesting to see how it lasts.

im sure if these cheap locker have shltty cast gears in them, you would be able to go and get some machined up from somewhere. surely. if the price of getting some of these gears made is reasonable then it could be a good investment. but then its the old trick of you strengthening something and guess what part is the next weakest link.

by the time you have found that out and replaced them with stronger bits you prolly be better off buying the arbair locker. go figure.

hope you thrash this locker pig and give us some feed back

cheers

If you are that worried about the side gears, BUY the arb replacements.

I BET they woudl bolt straight in.
Also, get the ARB seals ( like they are indestructable anyhow)

:D

Dont know, they look dodgy as ferk! :?

they may turn out to be ok but only time will tell, trouble is when it goes bang its likely to be in the most inconvenient place.

until you can tell me you've done a couple of good trips or a couple of comps with trouble free, then there's no way id even look at one.

anything will break if you give it a good chance but come on, something aint right there.

cheers, :D

what isnt right?

someone copied the ARB locker?

happens with everything, Someone copied Henry's Model T aswell... :D

if ARB drop their prices to what the ARB locker sells for in the states then it will not have a problem.

We are sick of getting ripped of from these companies in Australia.

this sounds fair, but until this product has been tested in every day to extreme conditions there will be alot of doubt on the product,
some people just dont care about the $$ factor if they are getting a qaulity tested product has has been proven. some do care and would rather buy these.

if they turn out to be reasonably troubless, id say they will sell shite loads!

id be interested to see how the testing stages go. :D

What do you think most places charge for mark-up in other businesses? That $4 pot cost the pub less than $1. That $3000 TV probably cost $500. A mate works for a furniture retailer. The MINIMUM mark-up is 700%.
Apparently people think I'm too patronising (that means I treat them like they’re stupid).
