electric fan help
Moderator: -Scott-
Most auto parts shops sell a thermo fan controller that is a small box with a copper capillary tube copming out of it. You mount the box next to your radiator and put the end of the tube inside your top radiator hose.
The box has temp cut out adjustment by a screw on the side.
Cheap, simple to hook up and hardly ever fail.
If you try using the factory temp sender you will compromise its original function.

Those type of controllers are notorious for causing problems and failing. You can use the factory temp sender to control a electric thermo fan (using some add on circuitry to interface) without affecting it's normal funtioning, or add in a thermal switch and use that to switch the fan via a relay.want33s wrote:Cheap, simple to hook up and hardly ever fail.

Check out the sticky thread at the top of this section entitled "Thermo fan Info" http://carl.outerlimits4x4.com/ftopic147839.php It should give you plenty of ideas on how to do it.
This thread might also be of interest - it's how I'm converting my XL-7 http://www.suzuki-forums.com/suzuki-vit ... o-fan.html

Re: electric fan help
I had a thermo fan put in my bravo that runs automatically. The temperature sensor goes into the radiator/top radiator hose and the unit is mounted beside it, there are three temperatures which you can set it at so it automatically turns on when the temp is reached. I think the temp range is between 80 to 100 degrees and you just put it roughly what temp you desire (mines on 85 from memory). I had a mechanic install mine. My unit hasnt failed since it has been installed, thats over 2 years, but I have blown 3 fuses in that time so it pays to keep an eye on the temperature needle at all times for piece of mindmad geordies wrote:i want to put elctric fans to my radiator on the pajero but... dont want to put it on a switch i want it to be auto..as when the engine needs cooling it will come on without my help but i dont know where to wire it to?
