New Gear Box and Transfer

Post by harrisbm »

I'm trying to find a spare gear box and transfer case. The wreckers have a recon one but I am looking for a new one. Does anyone know if this is even available.

just a guess but if its for a toyota you can buy new boxes from them for at least as far back as a 60 series cruiser. earlier maybe too.

but you could get three reco boxes for the price of one new toyota one.

also toyota sell the main gear box and transfer seperately.

why would you want a spare one anyway, toyota boxes don't normally break (105 series excluded)

you must be seriously cashed up to look at buying a new toyota box!
my advice is don't bother.
go recon. if you do end up breaking the new box you'll either end up getting it fixed which will be the same as getting a recon one or buying another new one!
and as for toyota boxes not breaking, ha! giving it to a first year apprentice proves that wrong! (hilux mind you)

if you buy that parts magazine, some times thier is a toyota dealership (bendigo in vic, i think dont hold me to it) and they were selling them for around the $2500 mark for a 75 box, and they are new as well
