Hi all,
A good mate is thinking about rebuilding a HJ47 ute from a chassis, using a fully fibreglass body kit. He is talking about getting the chassis galvanised. Has anyone done this and is it worth it. He wants a reliable car that won't rust and is looking to keep it fpr a long time.
Love to know what people think??
Matt

i believe theres a full fibreglass cabbed 45 on ebay at the moment, was 3 grand, new fibreglass cabs can be very costy,i was considering it for my bj42 with cancer ridden shell, but yeah 5 plus grand scared me away,as for galving the chassis,it gets done,i believe some places dont like to hot dip them,as theres a chance of warpage, but a few people have done it,with no issues,i to think it would be awsome, but the cost factor,id wanna be hanging on to it for good
this is my hj47 that i am restoring i thought about galvanising the chassie however most of the people i spoke to in regards to doing this told me it would be upwards of a grand they could not garente the finish of the job and i had to get it sand blasted somwhere eles so i went away from that idea and got it sandblasted and powder coated pick is crap but it came up looking like pool fencing and cost me 500 to get blasted and powder coated pluss they capped all of the threads to save the effort of retapping.
