no boost on ARB turbo 2h

hi i just fitted a arb turbo to my brothers hj47 l/c ute with 2h but i have a problem it wont boost infact it has a bit off vacum on the boost gauge can someone tell me what it could be. will talk to a diesel mechanic tuesday.

hi thanks for the reply chuckey and gt60 ive disconected rod actuator to waste gate the waste gate moves.we have taken it for a drive but still no boost, cant see any exhaust leaks before turbo tried different spots for boost gauge cant fig it out .

Cheers, This pic shows where I fitted the boost gauge and it works ok up to 12 lb. How much vacuum is it showing? Any possibility something was left inside jamming the turbo? The difference in power should be noticed if it's working, big difference for sure. Goodluck.

gday bigbrowndog atm i fitted gauge to pipe from actuator to turbo with ''t'' pice before i had it on cross over pipe same result no boost. removed exhaust and inlet pipe to turn turbo shaft it turns ok.it shows just in vacum side around 1psi vacum thanks

sounds like you have a blockage.

did you try with the inlet pipe (from aircleaner) off? quite possible a blockage at the airfilter.

You wastegate my not be physically in the shut position. If you drop the rod off the wastegate valve, can you here slap shut when moved by hand?

Is your turbo spinning by hand??

yeh dzltec can hear waste gate slap took inlet and exhaust of it turns by hand. turbo is of ex arb show truck hj60 sahara 1986 i have got for wrecking have never seen one set up like this its got butterfly bit before turbo has anyone seen one like this before? it had a gareet turbo on it before but was to big.

sounds like the cause of the problem. sounds like a fuel control butterfly for some types of pumps. if your setup doesn't have a use for it get rid of it.

i had to remove original throttel body and fit cross over pipe and lenghten pneumatic hoses on top of fuel pump to new throttel body before turbo if i could id send pics but dont know how

Don't delete the throttle assembly, your pump won't work without. Sometimes they are moved to the inlet to get a better vacuum signal. make sure the hoses are fitted correctly to the correct fittings. How are you checking for boost?

but maybe now he has two throttle assemblies? his factory one and the one ARB put on the front of thier turbo?

hi back from the bush thanks for the replies i dont know how to send pics have may be found problem the 4 bolts that hold waste gate looked tight but were in fact rusted lose so will have to remove broaken bolts and refit wastegate hope fully thats what was problem will let you know next few days thanks

Is that the one they fully restored a couple of years ago? if so that is a shame to wreck something like that

so its the black 60 series they restored and built the new style arb 60 series bar for?
