Motorbike in a defender

as the title suggest has anyone tried this, obviously with the back seat down, and what is the limiting factor, im guessing height. The reason Im asking this is that im thinking of selling my rangie for either a county/defender or a dual cab lux. Even though we have a trailer it would be handy to able to put the bike in the car.

I would say that the stoopid ass rear door would not be wide enough to fit the handle bars and it really would be difficult to manouvre the bike to get it inside.

make up a rake that goes into your tow hinch. bike 'n rack run side ways across the back of the car.

Unless its a Peewee 50 dont bother, get a 130 Hi Cap ute if you want room for 5 plus a bike or 2.
Saddle up tonto, its the not so loanrangie! . 98 TDI DISCO lightly modded with more to come.

I like the idea advdisco1, and I have seen someone with this set up but It would be easier to stick to the current trailer and fix it up a little. whilst I love the 130 dual cab they are a little outta my price range, gotta wait till I finish uni and start making some real coin. Thanks for the replies though guys.

The old Long Range Patrol Vehicles had motorbikes mounted sideways across the back, so some trail bikes will fit. Bolt on extentions to the rear crossmember may be an option but it would block back door access into the vehicle. the spare could be mounted on a roof rack.

i made it up on a weekend. material cost about $150. saves towing a trailer for just 1 bike, save fuel aswell.

Completely pointless comment but I could fit a DT200 in the back of my old barn door MQ patrol (seats folded completely flat in back level with floor).

I can get my z50 in my Rangie... :lol:

LRPV's are wider than a standard Landy.
