3000 v6

88 NF 3.0L V6. Has 315 on the clock, only had it for 2,000km of that. Though I don't have the reciepts to prove it I'm sure it's had a rebuild at some stage, as the 3.0Ls don't get to this age without burning oil or blowing smoke, of which mine does neither.
3.0Ls are common for the rings going anywhere over 200,000km.
I thought, but I could be wrong, stem seals show up as going by producing smoke while the engine is kicking along under compression (i.e. in 3rd gear down a hill at 3000rpm), as well as when the vehicle's been left to sit for a bit.

Valve stem seals are common on them. only blows smoke after idle or long decel is always stem seals. Easy to replace if you have the correct tool.
Have seen heaps of people replace there engines because mechanics have told them its stuffed when it only needs stem seals.

just finishing off rebuilding one myself for NH. I bought the paj not running, but prev owner got 285k. but then it is pretty neglected.. turned out he has ran it out of oil, and lol, waterpump only has three fins left on impellor. previous mechanic timebombed a top end replacement with copious silicone use - no gaskets!!. looks to me like these motors are pretty tolerant of misuse! i like the design, very simple.

How much you paying for this one? Who's it through also?
3975 for the engine itself, using the rest of the gear off ur old engine, eg water pump, timing belt, hoses, leads etc.
im getting all of what i mentioned above replaced with brand new gear so its now 5g, engine fitted the whole works. yes its pricy but it comes with a 3yr(may be 4yr) unlimited k warrenty which sold me. that and the fact the company has been around for donkeys yrs
repco auto repairs use this company as their choice engine remnaufactures, so to answer ur question its through repco auto repairs, however u should be able to get the engine straight from the company and take it to whoever u choose to fit it i assume
