Been following this build for a while, he's chopped the guards if you look closely making it look a bit higher. It seems like the diffs utilise all of the up travel in the rear as you can see in one pic. Its a pretty cool build I reckon.
I want to see it on some side angles. I also want to see it on a high speed run with those coilovers in action. Definitely something that high won't like it too much on side angles even on lux diffs. But sweet build anyway. Just gotta wear a nappy when driving it to protect the seats.

how do you find the steering with that box it it?
does it cause a problem when your drivers side drops heaps. ie does it turn the wheels on you?
it does look good!
Highly modified but keeping the stock look means you should have less hassles with everyone, engineer, cops, rta.
well done!

I was never against Hilux stuff being used just against it being used because someone heard someone say Hilux stuff is the only answer. For most applications it isn't the best solution and with a little bit of research and actual planning people would maybe realise that. This doesn't look like just a slapped together build with no thought, research or planning.

The wheel base has been lengthened 120mm, i wonted to get 200mm so it would of been like a swb patrol but i couldnt get it with out pushing the front forward and that would of looked uglynicbeer wrote:for a tintop and lux diffs/ etc

thanks john
MIGHTY PISTON POWER.
Had to leave the body blocks in so the cab would clear the auto and transfer, my goal was to make this as low as possible, so cause of it being so high i put 25 percent offset rims onTaff wrote:damn that's high!
Why did you leave the bodylift in?
the wheel base is only 150mm smaller than a gu patrol,
thanks john
MIGHTY PISTON POWER.
have to get it enginneres with 31s cause then it looks smallcj wrote:What size tyres are you getting it engineered on and whats the amount of lift over standard that it has?TUFFMQ wrote: in the process now to get it enginnered
dont no how much lift its got over standrad i guess it would be a lot
thanks john
MIGHTY PISTON POWER.
the design of this steering box would only work well on leaf sprung cars as it does lift and dip the side of the car when you steer, but the worest is when you drive it over 40clicks and hit a hole in the road it wonders bad, the high steer setup will fix it thogermo wrote:how do you find the steering with that box it it?

only got up to 40clicks but it was smooth, when it had the zook engine it had slight vibs as the shaft angels where out but now they are straightget it up there wrote:LEGEND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Top job!! I just put lux diffs under my zook.. hope your not having probs with vibrations like i am

thats whavery1 says but they work very well, just abit soft like that, thats why in some pics you can see ranco adjusterables on there also, sierrajim wrote:Looks good, will be interesting to see how your rear shocks work out laid over so far.
there rear flexs with easy, and with the extra shoke it handals well also

its the same 1 but that was built to a budget back then, as the standard 1.3 was almost ripping the diffs out with so much diff rap,so i removed the diffs and ground all the old crap off also all the old lux crap off and done it right this time, and the suspensionwas not out wide enough for the lux diffs so it drove like a boat.zookimal wrote:Is this the same car that got around the Gold Coast on Luxs and 35in Krawlers a few years back? What in the rebuild necessitated the extra lift?

Hope it can be engineered and then you can refine anything that you need to.
