Powerup for GU 4.2 TD
Powerup for GU 4.2 TD
Hi Guys
Am looking to powerup my GU Patrol 4.2 TD to better pull an off-road van, close on 2.5tons, first stop will be a Beaudesert exhaust and then the world, no seriously am interested in the Diesel Gas Australia conversion http://www.dieselgasaustralia.com.au/de ... x?ID=About not cheap ($4300 with a $2000 gov cashback) but the claims are extraordinary.
Need to know if any punters out there have any knowledge or experience with this system.
Cheers
John M

I went through that when I got mine & looking at Dyno graphs etc I couldnt see any reported difference other than the higher price tag & a "Brand" name.eighty80 wrote: qn...how do they differ and are they any better than your "good" local exhaust place could make up to suit?
IIWY id stick with a place that can do the lot & KNOWS whats they are doing with the pump for the full install & tune.
i was thinking about getting my local guy to do the 3inch exhaust and getting the tune done by the experts. ive never had an issue with these guys and always been happy with there exhausts in the past.
is this what you did? i just reckon there is some coin to be saved doing it this way - i know the exhaust guy and know it wont be anywhere near $1400..

as I said....eighty80 wrote:yep, i'm aware that i need to do the dump as well as the exhaust...then in for a dyno / tune.
i was referring to the 3inch beuaexhaust for $1400!!
its just pipe.. the local bloke can make the same for you... and tuck it up nicely against hte body just as well... but will be 100s cheaper.. I just bought the dump from beaudesert.

The Beaudesert exhaust in aluminised steel is $935 +$25 packaging +freight
stainless is $1600 but why go for stainless unless you do a lot of beach work. My standard exhaust is 7 yrs old and good as new even after some beach work. As to using a local- looked around here in Wide Bay and have yet to find a shop with a mandrel bender, if you think a press bent system will provide the same results have a look at http://beauexhausts.com.au/
Fruity_84 what did your system cost and did you get a rebate from the government? Did you achieve the same results as posted on the Diesel Gas web site?
cheers

I had an MTQ turbo fitted to my GQ last christmas.
I had the guys at MTQ fit their 3' kit, great kit.
It is a 3" mandrel bent system from turbo to tail with a turbo Muffler and a work of art. it cost me about $700.
a friend did the same thing but went ot the local guy and had a 3" system done and saved $200.
But mine is one peice over the rear axle and to the pipe, his is cut and shut for every bend. All mandrel bends but welded in.
Lets chat is 3 to 5 years and see who wil regret the $200 saving.
