6" Suspension lift for a GQ - Quoted $4,000+... could i
Well chubbz.... besides all the bs opinions of others as to why you want it that big and the replys of all the self taught lawyers and engineers did you end up getting a worthy answer to your question??????
I get so sick of this site and the people who belittle anyone who wants to do something to THEIR RIG other than just bolt on something off the shelf from ARB or similar......
the question I think needs answering here is, is 4k over the top for a 6 inch lift.... without actually sorcing the bits I think it may be... although to do a lift like that you will need new panards, castor correction longer brake lines... maybe drop steering arm.....& bigger bump shops or hydraulic ones... thats on top of the springs & shocks....
If you are near Cranbourne look up Smithies outback gear, he is good with datsuns and pretty well priced....
Good luck with it and get some up skirt down top pics to post up on here....that'll shut em up

A speed camera would have prevented that!
Although ultimately it is none of anyone's business what modifications are done you have to accept that if you make your views public on this forum then comments are going to be posted . That is what a forum is all about.Gheto_Modz wrote:Well chubbz.... besides all the bs opinions of others as to why you want it that big and the replys of all the self taught lawyers and engineers did you end up getting a worthy answer to your question??????

Re: gq nutter is a fukstik
why should he sell his again? because hes realised that you dont need 6ft lift to go places? Or the fact that his balls have already dropped, and he has grown up realising you can stilll go 38s with 3inch lift and a guard chop and will go miles past your stuck 6in lifted GQ with 35's?plumber wrote:u should trade your patrol in on a standard commodore nutter gq u old .
so if the opinion doesn't match yours it is then bs. The thing with public forums is that people will disagree and that is a good thing. Experience is there to be shared. You can listen to as much as you like or ignore as much as you like. But to not have differing opinions would make it a very boring and pointless forum.Gheto_Modz wrote:Well chubbz.... besides all the bs opinions of others as to why you want it that big and the replys of all the self taught lawyers and engineers did you end up getting a worthy answer to your question??????

I can't stand the attitude of people who, if te opnion doesn't match theirs, have to resort to swearing, name calling or generally calling people faggots or that they need to harden up etc.
Take on board what people say, as many have experience and knowledge and you can learn a lot from what they say. you never know sometimes you might learn something.

I dont have a problem with other peoples opinions, even negative ones.
But yes this forum has to many bull shit opinions.
Im not talking about the constructive negative comments that I may disagree with, but it is no help being told you may be compensating for something in only the third post in. I thought this was a modified 4wd forum.
This forum has gone to the dog's, good luck with all you mod's guys but get your advise elsewere, have to filter though to much crap to get a decent opinon on here.
End rant
6" inch lift is not that big especially on a low-rider like a GQ.
you mean you have to filter through it all to get the opinion you were hoping to get? so you can tell yourself your right because some other bogan in their hillbilly GQ has already done what you want to do and tells you to do it also?whitemav wrote: have to filter though to much crap to get a decent opinon on here.

when i first got my GU, i wanted 6" and 35s but i asked a few EXPERIENCED people and they recommended lower...
so i went looking for the answer i wanted but just couldnt find it.
asked these people again, what about 5" or 4"
came back with "why" "you dont need it that big for just 35s"
so i went for the 3" like i was recommended by a few people...
and having seen and driven other patrols with bigger lift, im extreemly happy i went the lower lift.
if you really need 6" then do it, but dont bother just for the "look" (i dont get the "look" is it a look at me, i have a tall car but cant drive it anywhere thing?)
or dont do it just for little 35s
go wider and bigger with your tires to suit the larger lift.

for some it isn't but for others it is. There are quite a few people running 38" tyres on 2" of lift on GQ shorties. They have gone down the route of small lift, flare cutting and big tyres as they have found it performs a hell of a lot better for them. I went a similar route with my Zuk small lift, lots of cutting to fit big tyres. It goes to show there are many ways to lift a 4wd and that sharing of info with the pros and cons discussed is a benefit to all who bother to read it with an open mindwhitemav wrote:

I dont even have an opinion on this, I looked at it because I may like to see what a 6" lift might be worth.j-top paj wrote:you mean you have to filter through it all to get the opinion you were hoping to get? so you can tell yourself your right because some other bogan in their hillbilly GQ has already done what you want to do and tells you to do it also?whitemav wrote: have to filter though to much crap to get a decent opinon on here.
Did I get my answer ? Yes, in 2 post's out of 4 pages of which half are utter bull shit and off topic nit picking.
Just like every other thread turns in to on this forum.
It didnt seem like this when I joined Only 6 months ago. How wrong I was.
Some of the users on this forum need to pull their head in.
I just wait for the day they actually would like some advise themselves, no-one would bother replying
I agree but surly those bull shite rs will not Eva need to ask any Q's, After all they seem to know it all....whitemav wrote: I dont even have an opinion on this, I looked at it because I may like to see what a 6" lift might be worth.

A speed camera would have prevented that!
I remember pulling over a lifted Jeep on the Nepean Highway last year. He had the suspension up so high the poor thing looked like it did not know which way to steer. The steering geometry was awkward. He also had the Bunnings rubber flares which looked shite.NutterGQ wrote:RoadNazi wrote:Very hard to stay under the 'radar' with a high lift.

Re: 6" Suspension lift for a GQ - Quoted $4,000+... cou
I wouldnt know how a 6" Patrol rides but be VERY sure that it can corner & swerve at speed properly. There are some roads in Oz that you will find a Road train all of a sudden not very far in front of you & you have to Brake heavily & swerve off the road, swerving isnt for pussys here, only for those that want to live.CHUUBZ wrote: Everyone that I've spoken too does not reccomend it for a street registered car for legalities which doesnt bother me but also because they strongly say the ride will be compltetly shit which is bothering me a bit as im planning on going on a 5,000km + holiday early next year around some parts of australia
Cheers,
Maciek
ps. watching the last trailer swerve 2' either side of the rest is really cool, unless your too close to the road or its very dusty & you cant see anything.
i guess this doesnt include yourself?whitemav wrote: Some of the users on this forum need to pull their head in.

if thats the case, that truck is modified, yeah ok, but its not that outrageously stupid, and u may be a good driver, but how do we know that the other guy is? at the end of the day, put someone in that rig who can drive it, and it will obviously outdrive you up terrain like that, otherwise why did u modify your patrol at all if u think it doesnt need all that extra work??
