water coming in through air vents

Post by waandy »

as soon as i get water in the little grill infront of the windscreen it entres through the vents and fills my footwells with water. it also means you cant demist the windscreen because of all the moisture in the vent system.
has anyone else experienced this?

yes, common on many suzukis.
i have put duck tape over the vents in the bonnet to stop water coming in, however, my vent system was clean in the first place so it still works fine.

nearly all Sierras get this at some time. probably a thread or two going if you search or if you check the bible. But basically you just have to clean the accumulated crap from the vents and the drain holes that come out through the firewall

Yeh as mentioned there are plenty of threads if you search, but as a quick pointer, what a lot of people do is drill a hole in the airbox and blow out all the crap, but if you want to spend half a day one weekend doing it properly, then you can remove the dash and remove/clean airbox properly. Its really not that hard.

i just ram a butterknife through the vents to poke everything out the firewall holes =P

I'd love to somehow attach flywire under the vents to stop leaves/flowers etc getting in there though.

I've tried cleaning my vents out but couldn't find anything that'd clear the mud+sticks+leaves from the vent tubing? I tried jiggling it out with wire, high pressure water from inside and out but couldn't clear it... Am I doing something wrong?
