WHICH EXHAUST TO GET?

Post by highwaychook »

I recently got a set of Lukey Headers fitted on my LN106 3L and I want a better exhaust system then the original that is on it.
I dont want it too loud though if I can help it...

Any suggestions fellas?

maybe 3" with a Lukey muffler??

Will I get any gain apart from noise or is it a waste of money??

3" will be detrimental with power on your 2.8D. a 2" is pretty good.

To stop it droning- make sure the exhaust exits PAST the back of the bodywork- Mine ended short and with an open muffler, it droned like a bastard and drove me nuts. The new, 3" mandrel exhaust (3.0TD engine) doesnt drone at all

I think the standard pipe on them is 2" ??? if so wouldn't a Lukey muffler suffice and just leave the standard pipe as is? I will be running the pipe all the way out the back of the tray.

Standard pipe was only 1.5" i believe- it wasnt big! Theres not a huge amount to be gained from the old 2.8D without going the Forced induction route.

no worries- I bolted a 2" press bent exhaust with extractors and a free flow muffler to my old 2.8D (before it got heaved for a 3.0TD) and to be honest if it gained 2kw im being generous.

What it did do was help the engine breathe a lot better- stock exhaust the engine would get to 3000rpm and hit a wall, weezing its way towards redline.

with the new exhaust, it breathed a lot better higher up in the rev band- 3500 was where it hit the wall.

But the downside was i lost a small amount of low down torque and gained a little bit up higher- Not enough to make any difference at all on hills tho!

Contact Humex Exhaust in Albury.....

They made me a 3 inch dump pipe, and 3 inch exhaust for my hilux with a high flow cat and hotdog muffler.

Air freighted it to melbourne the next day.

Since, then, Ive had a replacement pipe made up to remove the muffler so I have a straight through 3 inch exhaust, high flow cat......

Sounds awesome under load, not loud when cruising at 100 at all, you can hardly tell its there.....LOVE IT!
