Putting a swb tub onto a lwb

I have wanted a soft top for quite a while and have been trying to work out how to go about it. Could cut mine down but don't really like that option. Try and get a Maruti cab which isn't a bad idea but hard too find. Get a soft top lwb tub even harder to find. But if I got a swb tub and cut it like this one of Jeff Stevens to lengthen the wheel openings on the tub maybe it will work. What problems would I encounter with mounting the swb tub to the lwb chassis. I'm guessing that the biggest problem will be fabbing new body mounts in the rear

I was thinking about whether that would be possible yesterday too for some reason... i reckon it would be cool - and perhaps rather than stretching the body to reach the back end of the tub - you could have a rear bumper bar / platform that covered the end of the chassis...?

The platform would probably be harder to notice if you had a jerry can and spare tyre mounted on it too

I am pretty sure you would only have to fab 2 mounts (the ones right at the back). They would be a piece of piss me thinks.

I was thinkin of a rear bar setup like my current one. It may even fit in the tub.

So who has a really cheap tub, cheaper by far than the one in the for sale section. Doesn't need doors, bonnet, front fenders, grille

For anyone else reading you could even do this without needing the LWB chassis. I have a chopped LWB tub (same as a maruti basically) on a SWB chassis. Rear axle is pushed right back. I could quite easily drop a SWB tub on that.

probably something more like this. Which is basically some custom rear panels to get to the lwb look.

I don't think it looks all that hard to do... perhaps you could just cut the tub behind the b-pillar before the wheel well and stretch it out there with some straight steel sheet - much the same as what joey has done with shortening his tub - just 2 lots of welds rather than one

p.s. did you read my post elsewhere about the lwb tub though? it may be a bit cheaper - 300 for the whole tub and chassis

yeah I did the only trouble is that there would be a bit of fiddling to get the tub to fit mine as they are different ie lwb and lwb ute. But I might give him a call later.
