How much worse is Fuel when towing?

Post by dklyne454 »

Hey guy's, Stranded in Melbourne and looking at options.

Found a 93 td42 i'm looking at tonight. thinking of buying it, driving it home, and then putting the motor, gearbox and a few other goodies into mine. (It has 3 weeks left of rego, Mech A1, but body full of rust, and too bad to repair, Mine has a good body and all the goodies i've put into it, but now has a dead gearbox and a crappy tb42 on gas)

but........i need to get mine home.

looking at prices for trucks, as aposed to trailering it, so how much worse is the economy in the 4.2 diesel if i had a car trailer with the other one on the back? figure i better add the extra fuel onto the overall cost for comparison.

Cheers
Daniel

25Lt/100

The max I can get out of mine is 17, no turbo though.

I have towed many differnt things with mine & this is the max I get, mind you I dont drave the nuts out of it either. I let it drop on the hills & find a gear that it is happy in, this is the key otherwise you will use mor juice than you need.
Don't ask me, ask them. I'm just runnin for my life myself.
Well they are all following you...

Cool thanks fella's, i might just tow it back i think.

I drive reasonably economicaly, and let the car do what it wants.
