Extra leg room in GQ Patrol LWB
Extra leg room in GQ Patrol LWB
Hello Everyone,
Currently on the lookout for my next 4x4. I really like the GQ Patrol but can't believe the lack of drivers legroom for such a large vehicle. My previous 4x4 (95 Jackaroo) had heaps more.
Apart from fitting a pair of aftermarket seats is there anything that can be done CHEAPLY to get an extra inch or two of legroom? Does the Ti have more seat travel than the ST (I've only sat in the ST)? I'm not sure that I could really live with it standard and wouldn't really have a lot of cash after buying it to spend on something like seats (lift kit, tyre maybe).
Thanks

Cheaply and the word safely don't always go hand in hand, especially when you are talking seats. Any frame/base mods will need to be beefy and possibly be approved/plated. Having a seat mount fail in an accident is like not wearing a seat belt in a rollover - you get thrown around everywhere with the seat as your enemy.
You must be 'big boned' or above average height to have problems with legroom (are we talking length here?).

Built, not bought.

Yeah, I'm 6' 2" and weight about 120kg so I take up a fair bit of room in the seat.

So am I, I have no problems at all... I do have a smaller steering wheel on it... and now paratus seats, but the stockys did me well.. Ti model.
the utes have heaps less legroom that tne wagons. the seat doesn't go as far back cause the headrest hits the window
I had a feeling that someone along time ago mentioned that the Ti had more legroom than the other models (obviously it's seat travel as the vehicle size is the same) hence the wording of the question.
I wasn't looking at doing some dodgy modification if I do end up buying a Patrol. Structual integrity of a seat is important when you are "large"
I might have to try and find a Ti or two to go and have a test drive of.
Does anyone know if the Ti really does have more leg room?
Thanks for all the replies.
