Nissan PAtrol turbo charger {new.}

Post by amazoniandad »

I have a td42 and have purchased a garret turbo from ebay. It has a 47mm exhaust turbine. After I bought it I was informed it was to small and would choke the engine after around 1800 to 2000 rpm.
Any advice would be most appreciated.

Exhaust side should be at least a/r .086

Im running a hi flowed t28 with the hot side at that. 10psi from rougly 1600 revs. One which you have sounds like a t25, it will boost from idle almost at that size, hence choking up.

Are you sure its a GT25? GT28 have a t25 flange.

All recomendations I have had is a GT2860 at the smallest and GT3076 at the largests for good responce.

AFAIK GT28's are now called part of the GT25 range so make have a GT25 designation.

Turbo sizing is really dependant on what power you want. Work out the power and then go from there. If you want to future proof yourself that is a diff story and only bb turbos will allow that.

We have used garrett turbos that beat the standard hitatchi unit all round, then when cranked up are more than capable of delivering enough air for the demands.

But garrett turbos that are suitable all have a t25 flange, need water to them and wont directly fit to factory manifolding.

Hope this helps.

Thanks to all for teh great feed back. Looks like I may have purchased a great turbo for a smaller engine. was told today it would spool at idle and make about 11lb max.

I run a GT2860RS with the small 0.64 turbine housing, sure many peeps say that its too small but it pulls 14PSI by 16-1700 RPM and doesn't drop off what so ever all the way to the redline.

My mate run s a bigger cold side on his yet uses the same turbine housing, and that thing flies....and often.

cheers
