Speedo troubles.
Speedo troubles.
For some time now the vitara speedo has been intermittently playing up, occasionally on cold mornings it will start growling and the needle starts flickering violently until it runs off the clock and the needle pops off, sometimes I can catch it by slowing down and the growling stops and thats the end of it until next time.
So Iv'e had the speedo out aheap of times, put the needle back on and off I go until next time which may be many months.
Now its almost constant, dropped the needle and growling all the time. Its gota be the magnetic drum thats shat the stick, has anyone experienced this before?

pull the cluster out, spray some wd 40 and put some light weight oil on the back of the head where the cable goes in, let it soak for 10 mins and put it back.
Fixes about 60% of them if not replace the cluster, also check that your speedo cable has the rubber gasket between the cable outer and transfer where it threads on, that can also cause a simmilar problem, only seen one do this before, the cable pushes too hard into the speedo head placing too much pressure creating drag.
