Reco Head 80 series 4.5 Petrol

Post by lux91 »

Guys/Girls

I've done the Head gasket on my 94 80 series 4.5 Petrol

Would someone be able to recommend a good shop to take the Head to have it checked and reco'd. Im on the north side of Brisbane

what kind of $$$ am I looking at?

I have already taken the head off and it has done nearly 200 tho.

Thanks in advance

if u have overheated her, get the head serviced, if you have just noticed water disappear, i have seen people change the gasket and head bolts and drive off...but first, check the valve clearances...if they r in spec, your laughing.
Buy aftermarket good quality gaskets and head bolts...350 should see u right.

Thanks for the replies

RAY, I will call Better head later today thanks.

Andrew,
The car was missing really bad for a couple of weeks(it would come and go) then it just started pumping heaps of steam/smoke?? out the exhaust.

It did get hot at this point as i was trying to get the car of the main road...

I checked all the valve clearances before pulling the head off and they were all near the the upper limit (gregories manual) but i havnt measured any of the shims yet.

Cylinder 1 had alot of coolant in it but after removing the head it appears that between 2 and 3 had oil leaking and 6 appears alot worse??
