I did last weekend. The main crank bolt came loose and the balancer moved forward and snapped off the key. New balancer, key, fan belts, timing belt kit were fitted and seems OK for now. $825 was the cost of the parts. I used loctite on the bolt when I reinstalled it. It did minimal damage to the crank, but it came off when I started it in the driveway.

Very common problem with RD28's.

Lock tight the bolt.

Mine had done this when i bought it. totaly stuffed the end of the crank ended up buying new complete bottom end and rebuilding it put it back together using locktite and plenty of force.
Its now done about 8000kms and no probs yet.
Still thinking of putting v8 in so if anyone interested in my 2.8 im open to offers.
Was brand new block pistons crank, also new excedy tuff clutch all gaskets replaced and new timing belt etc. Also put new injectors in about 5000kms ago.
Very strong little engine surpises all who have driven it.
have grinder will fit
