Foam shield / pad under the starter motor

Post by highwaychook »

The foam shield / pad or what ever it is called broke in half on my 3L where it's situated under the starter motor.
Is this critical and do I need to bother about replacing it?? Also what is it for?

As far as i know this was only to insulate the engine noise a little better. Ive seen lots without this fitted so i doubt it will cause any issues.

I thought it wouldn't pose a problem without it. Thanks Ruff.
