Firstly run drop box's with your 4" lift. It will save you many headaches. Secondly all the after market arms out there have their own problems, so its upto you which 1 your happy with. BigO - limited travel. 3rd's - rub on the chassi and weakn it. Superior - when bolt is removed it dives down on that side when braking. The list goes on. Find someone who has these arms and will take you for a spin. There is nothing worse than buying something and finding out your not happy with them.

I have been running 2dextreme arms for about 4 years in 2 different cars, 1 set with slotted gu bushes in a 4" lift gq wagon and the other in a 7" lift gq coilcab with solid bushes. I"m very happy with the handling and they do flex will enough.
I would buy the 2dextreme comp spec or superior comp spec arms if I did it again.
Big O arms are the same design as 2dextreme arms but made from a lowwer grade material, they are fine for normal use but have been known to bend under comp conditions. Good value for a tourer or weekend player.

I know nothing about how these work, but have been told by many people that drop boxes will allow you to climb over obstacles better than drop arms, so if someone can explain why again?
I now run superior drop boxes with the standard flex arm on one side, factory other, only because they weigh so damn much I couldn't bring 2 arms back on the plane!

. Sound like me nasty troll. I had soo much trouble when i first did my suspension through lack of knowledge (like most people) because noone tells you the important things. Castor problems (dodgy castor plates/ bush's) tough dog supplying wrong diameter bolts for ajustable panhard rods. Even with castor correction drop arms, it had the shakes and wobbles until I put the drop box's in. Then it all went away. But I have heard of lots of people happy with the castor drop arms. So I think each truck is different.
i have also heard of the 3rds arms cracking the chassis, but have onle read about it a few times and i only know personally of one bloke it has happened to,
i will admit i was running them in a comp truck until recently, i will admit they damaged my chassis ( didnt tear the boss out or anything) but i dont think it had to do with arm design, i ended up pushing both arms backwards hard which casue the mount to become ( shaped, if you get me drift,

A couple of months ago I was up at Superiors picking up some stock and they had a 4WD on the hoist fixing up the damage caused by the 3rd's arms. I built my ute in 2001, there was almost nothing available then and knowlage was limited.
I started with a 6 inch HD dobinson coil so it had to be caster plates.
Then went to 5 link for rock crawling.
Then to drop boxes for faster stuff.
Then the Drop arms for better clearence while maintaing good stability and handling.
The girls car runs 4" and has had caster bushes, drop boxes and now drop arms. It is her daily, tourer and play truck.
The only time I have had shakes was with the standard shims on the kingpin bearing with the petrol. I have never had an issue with any other nissan I have owned or done suspension on.
OZ14WD if you punish your patrol as much as us, go with 2dextreme arms, superior superflex arms may be good but I have not used these yet so cannot recommend them. Everyone with superflex arms so far seem very happy though.
I went to a patrol ute after running a comp 75 series cruiser. Big leafs and reverse shackles, it was so much easier. I went to a patrol for the coils. And i dont compete anymore after rolling her. But Im the same. There was nothing on the market that gave me good road handling "as good as stock".

i made some DXF drawing files for him a while back now, so they might be getting done in the next batch (i think he might have done some 1 offs but not sure). If you have a radius arm at the bottom and another arm at the top of the diff, it will not have any up or down movement. It will just all bind up.
