may have to run a AU throttle body as the BA unit is FBW (fly by wire)
unless the microtech can run the throttle body.
though if you are going through the trouble running a BA 6, why not use the turbo???
what kind of gear box are you going to run? falcon 4 speed?? C4? ZF? or just the patrol box?

XF throttle body will be the easiest to fit.
Its the only one that has a bracket for the cable attached. The others secure the cable off the rocker cover or manifold.
The microtech wont run the DVCT. It might be worthwhile looking into getting the standard ECU working. A few have been done like that now. You need a factory pedal, the looms and a flash tune to disable the security on the ECU.

SWB mav. Some mods.
yep, as above...unless you already have the microtec, get the factory ba computer flashed to remove all the security from it...i'm not sure where you are, but bpt motorsport in perth can do it. i was looking into doing the same thing to my mk, but decided not to as i couldn't be bothered in the end...bot too expensive to get done and you could get it dyno tuned at the same time if you wanted to
as for the throttle body, you could make up a bracket to hold the cable instead of using an xf throttle body

i saw a writeup someone did for one.
it was quite a task. used an EF XR6 donk i think. found it was difficult to use the falcoon ecu so went standalone and dropped a turbo on its side for good measure.
issue with this motor is the exhaust and intake ports are around the opposite way to the nissan's, which makes a right hand drive engine bay very tight.
after reading his worklog, if i ever did some sort of conversion, i'd just go V8.

does anyone have the internal diameter of the BA or XF throttlebody?dansedgli wrote:XF throttle body will be the easiest to fit.

yes, and they wont just go over the engine, they will go over whole car.. anything from $500 to $1000+ depending on the engineer..create wrote:When you put a 4 litre AU or BA falcon motor in a GQ do you need to get it engineered in NSW? Approx how much does this cost?
... get your 33's and 4inch lift done while your at it....

What a great conversion!! How much did it cost and what is a good 2nd hand motor worth? I've been quoted $2200 for a TB45E with all the (motor) stuff needed for the conversion, not including fuel pump and that other ancillary type shit.
If you could keep us informed of how the swap goes and post up some pics, that'd be great!!
