Sierras with aircon
Sierras with aircon
Did any sierra models come out with aircon?
yes they had the option. will find more in the widetracks and i've set up a few 1.6's running a mix of sierra and vit stuff and they work a treat.

It is actually very easy to fit AC into a Sierra.gqtrol wrote:Thanks for the offer pal but putting aircon into cars is not the funnest job to do.cj wrote:or I could sell you a complete Sierra air con I also have a second condenser and cooling unit minus the compressor.
If you have a few basic tools and all the parts it shouldn't take more than a couple of hours.
I have a complete setup waiting to go into mine when I get time to work on it instead of driving it.
Jas.
pretty sure all coilys came with air cond
pretty sure all coilys 96 onwards came with air cond
mine did and my mates did
you might be able to find some aftermarket ones fitted to some seirras plus power steering.
love my power steering

.....and yet you're too soft to camp in anything but a brick tentgreg wrote:thankyou GPTABT1GRPABT1 wrote:You people are all soft, I live in probably the hottest climate of any zook forum member and I don't even have a fan!
every sierra came with removable doors - there's your aircon!

Factory optioned aircon in my 93 WT hardtop = great
I am most *definately* soft ... always had aircon and will never buy a car without it. Do work k's in mine so can't afford to turn up sweaty and dishevelled.
Works a treat. Takes about 2-3 mins to really get going, but is then almost icy. Fan has more than enough blow for it to work effectively (had a Sigma once with AC - icy cold but fan couldn't blow enough air for it to work well). Won't chill the cabin down as such, but keeps front + rear passengers cool 'n comfy while its on.

My Mrs sierra is a 1991 soft top with factory air, and it works great, as long as your soft top has no holes in it (ours is new).Zook_Fan wrote:yes it was an optional extra most people never got. It is sort of pointless in a soft top because it doesnt seal but would be good for hardtop.
It will be up for sale soon if anyone interested
06 Grand Vitara Prestige, 2" lift, Kumho A/Ts, ARB winch bar, snorkel, spotties. Also a Regal 2150 LSC Volva Penta 350 gsi duoprop, and a kayak ;-)
Yeah I think Sheps is winning Katherine is def hotter than Darwin at the moment, but he forgot to mention he has Air-con in his Sierra.... Lucky bloke.
Darwin is freaking hot right now, I think the humidity is about 84% or more.. Got up for work today at 5am and it was already 34deg. We are winding up the Victorian bloke at our work telling him its going to get hotter he is freakin out haha....

A- those i know with a/c in a sierra love it....as i do..........but you really need a 1.6 to get the full benefit.

mine blows cold air on very hot days, even when crawling in first gear for long periods. so far the only thing that affects it is grass seeds building up on the front of the car which is probably not a problem elsewhere. the compressor is quite small and my tired old g13a doesn't feel it. the best mod i have done, however it was also the most expensive.

Reason being? Last I checked the efficiency of the AC compressor was determined by a combination of pulley size and revs, not engine capacityjoeblow wrote:A- those i know with a/c in a sierra love it....as i do..........but you really need a 1.6 to get the full benefit.
Don't notice any power loss at speed (ie full throttle, fifth gear) with aircon on vs aircon off, so can't see that a 1.6 would have any benefits unless you undersize the pulley to get more revs out of the compressor, in which case the extra go of a 1.6L might be beneficial.
It's midnight and still 28 degrees here with a humidity of about a million lol I think that's what makes it so bad.sheps wrote:lets see the overnight temp got down to 31 and it was 40 by nine this morning. east coast softie.GRPABT1 wrote:You people are all soft, I live in probably the hottest climate of any zook forum member and I don't even have a fan!
