75 series extended shackles

Post by 88pajero »

I would like to raise my 75series troopy around 1 to 1.5 inches. And I want to do it on the cheep so I was wondering how extended shackles would go? being such a small lift would it bother the stock shockers at all and does anyone know where I can pick up some good ones?

I put 2" extended on mine I got on the cheap from sleezbay and it all goes great with std length old man emu shocks. The sway bar restricts it before the shocks do.

Shackles are quick and easy, ensure you try to get an anti inversion style that dont draw to much attention. Don't forget you will need to by some diff wedges to return the castor back to a satisfactory angle.
Body lift is also good but not as quick and still needs to be plated for use in Queensland. Either option will help you get some bigger tyres on there.

Except handling. They're ok when the bushes are new, but when worn you'll get lateral movement in the shackles causing you vehicle to wander.

I had said EFS extended shackles as a part of my lift (with castor wedges), got sick of poor on road handling, went to standard anti-inversions - problem solved.

Also the extended shackles give you more area to get hung up on in the front, mine were always digging into the dirt between deep wheel ruts.

Still, they're a cheap and easy way to get more clearance for bigger tyres, not legal for on road use though.

I had extended shackles on my 75 ute, and couldnt get them off quick enough.
Makes the handling of the car dangerous on road. Heaps better to drive without. Went the 2 inch body lift, even though a little more complex,
ie: radiator shroud , shift lever and a little fidly it was well worth it. Makes no difference to the handling even though the cab is higher.
