Motor ist eine der neusten LS/ Gen 4, kamm erst Ende 07 auf den Markt. Also nichts mit 350...Getriebe 4L80e mit 4 Gängen, manuel valve body, verstärktes Innenleben, Wandler auf meinen Motor abgestimmt und manuel schliessbar,VG = Nissan Y61
The motor is one of the newest LS/ Gen 4, arrived end 2007 on the market. It is not a 350 chev. Auto is a 4l80e 4 speed, manual valve body, stronger gearing, converter tuned to fit motor and is able to close up manually. Transfer case = Nissan GQ.
Some more information about it:
- 100" wheel base - it is a 90 Chassis extended by Richards
shorted sidepanels from a 110 and the roof is produced out of two pick-ups
2270kg vehicle weight with full tank
Nissan GQ axles front and back
4-link back suspension
King 2"x4" bump stops
Gigglepin winch with 2x XP6 12v Motor on 24v, 2x Albrights solenoid, cable are 70mm2/ 50mm2, 40% faster gearing and a wide drum

looks very well built, but i reckonm the "lockless"rover would be just as competitve if not more so...
IMO these are now out and out race cars, so if they have the bucks (looks like a fair few have gone into this one) why not build it like a race car... move motor back for better weight, keep weight down as much as possible, use alloy suspension arms, long suspension arms tucked up out of the way..... etc etc

Is road rego still part of the race rquirements or is it now just the different classes with this sort of beast fitting in the extreme/modified/whatever class??
I was under the impression that outback challenge rigs had to be road registered. Now I dont want to open one of those tough truck debates on rego etc. But the vehicles more and more are moving from road registered to specially built race cars. but that must be pretty loose definition, i know you can get things engineered, but, Qld for example, has very strict rules.... no way you'd get 35 + tyres legal....
they may go easier on the foreign entries... i notice he has used rose joints on his suspension links.... i thought they were not legal in any state...

EU/Swiss regs are way tougher than any state in OZ. Notice it is not registered. e.g. ANY change in tyre size over stock needs to be approved.
I think the "road registered" bit in the OBC regs is just for insurance purposes. No vehicle in the OBC would be 100% road legal.
