has anyone done some mods to these i just pulled mine apart and the motor was full of clay so i got it rebuilt, and the circlip on the internal brake had broken so i replaced the clip but now when i stop reeling in our out it stops all of a studden is this ok as it used to keep rolling slowing down when i stop reeling in with know load on it. so has any body put breather systems or anything else to stop this from happening again. and of course i only found out the winch was working when i needed it hey.

I like the highmount for my Jeeps cause I do a lot of wheeling. At times I go without missing a trip yet I understand the lowmount for the medium wheeler.bogged wrote:ODD BALL wrote: Get a 8274 and have fun!
Highmounts are good if your serious, for the weekly punter that rarely goes offroad, the 9000 is ample for most cars.
here new they are nearly $700 more than a low mount...
New..
High mount $2,499.99
9000 low $1,790.00

Sounds like you winch is now working properly - before it wasn't.
You brake was probably not working properly before... did you find that when you were winching up hill under load that when you stopped winching the winch would slowly lower you back down rather than holding??

Warn has said that doing a cleaning of the winch going by how much time you spend in the mud will help keep it tiptop. I have afriend that runs a sami and has had the same trouble with the winch not holding on hills cause of mud packed in the inerworks. How much dose the new Warn TI go for out that way?
