Hi Lift Jack Mount on GU Spare Wheel
Hi Lift Jack Mount on GU Spare Wheel
What brackets have people used to mount a hi lift on the spare tyre on a GU patrol? I bought the TigerzII one off Hobzee which will fit the stud pattern of the patrol but won't fit coz of the lip on the factory carrier that the spare wheel supports itself on. Has anyone modified one of Hobzee's mounts or found a way round this problem other than cutting the lip off the carrier?
Cheers,
John.

Maybe try cutting a piece out of the hi lift mount so that it slides over/around the lip of the patrol mount . The surface remaining and 3 wheel studs will be plenty to hold it all in place .
I recently built one for gu42patrol on here if you want pics .

Re: Hi Lift Jack Mount on GU Spare Wheel
Have you spoken to Hobzee to see if there is a solution?
all Kaymar gear is the same price structure... they wanted $150 for a drop towbar tounge...Nev wrote:Yeh but it was cheap enough and buying one is easy. I know Kaymar do one as well but haven't seen the design and I was quoted $179 from ARB which is ridiculous. Haven't phoned Hobzee no, was just seeing if there's a simple fix first as I thought these were pretty common.
i have the same problem - been thinking of getting a die grinder and knocking a blody great hole through the bracket base large enough to slip over the supporting lip on the door mount.
GU 4.2 TD Garrett BB Hi-flow, M8274 + Bells & Whistles with plenty of fruit still on the list!

Yeh this seems like the only viable option without modifying the carrier. And Micka1 if you have pics can you post them? That would be great.benhl wrote:i have the same problem - been thinking of getting a die grinder and knocking a blody great hole through the bracket base large enough to slip over the supporting lip on the door mount.

Hey Nev and Co,
GQs for years ran without that lip. Most GU owners that buy this mount just get the grinder out and cut the lip off. At the point where its fouling the Hi lift mount it's not really bearing any weight, the studs are doing most of that.
Other than that the mount itself should be fairly easy to modify. I will amend our listings to reflect this issue.
Thanks guys.
