Where to buy extended brake lines?

Just wondering where the best place to buy extended brake lines for a sierra would be?

Is there any online shops? or just a matter of going to a brake shop with stock lines, and getting them to make longer ones?

Many brake and hose places (pirtek, ABS brakes etc) will make legal extended lines.

They're quite cheap too.

Never thought of pirtek (or enzed) before you mentioned.
I did get an over the phone quote from my local brake guy, and he said approx $65 per line. Which i thought was a little over the top? but if pirtek or enzed aren't any cheaper i have no choice!

i know hilux rears attach to the back hose and i think another hilux one attaches to the front. you can get them from a wrecker pretty cheap.

now thats opening a can!!!

that would be my option, get hoses off a NEW model car, late model camary, 100s cruiser, vy commodore, ba falcon, so on so on. take one of yours down and start comparing. your after about 4 or so inches longer.
i think i used long side vitara ones. altho i do have braided ones from lowrange to fit

bbm motorsports and snake racing sell them online, or as already mentioned some pirtek and enzeds are licenced to make brake lines. As I understand it, suzuki swift items will fit and are longer than the sierra lines. I would buy them brand new though and not from a wrecker. When it comes to brakes it's better to spend a little bit more than to compromise on safety. Just my thoughts.

In the bible there is a few threads on brake lines. Try your local brake places, as well as pirtek enzed etc.

On the subject of 2nd hand lines - DONT. It is illegal to sell second hand lines from memory, and really, you are skimping on your brakes. Not only your saftey but someone elses too.

ABS brakes did mine and they were bugger all $$. Why would you even consider skimping on something as important as brake lines?

Looks like its $60 each at local brake shop.

Enzed and Pirtek both said they dont do it?

BBM EFS and snake wanted $275 for a set.... (although braided i believe)

Where do people find these $28 dollar places (such as in sierra bible)
i rang heaps of hyudraulic and brake shops and lowest was $60.

Where is EFS in Smithfield?? Are you talking about Carrolls Springs??

I know for a fact Pirtek in Milperra do brake lines. It might be possible to have them make them and send them to your local retailer to pick up. In all honesty though $60 don't sound too bad to me

Cheapest I could find in Launceston was $44 per line at NBC. Enzed and other hydraulic places said that legally they can't do brake lines for road registered vehicles. One place said they would do for "off road only".

It all depends on what equipment the particular shop has, and their method of attaching the hose to the metal fittings.

Mine cost a little more than you blokes up North. I put that down to the "Tasmanian factor" :roll:

Locktup4x4's site states that they are "DOT approved".

Is that DOT approved in America or Australia? They are two different things.

DOT is US.

Braided lines require a ADR band attached in Australia AFAIK - It's only a tag, but there you go.

Boggers are DOT legal.... in the US.

had mine done by a mobile van type block, bit more expensive but I couldn't drive the car without brakes to get to the shop, made tested and fitted for about $100, 2 lines.

Wow... old thread!

I ended up getting them for about $40 each from brake shop. Made them up as i waited.

Definately couldnt justify $275 for braided. and to be honest, cant see any real benefit for braided anyway.

Im not much of a fan of braided hoses in an engine bay either, they rub through anything they touch!

i use the front ones off the vit 4dr calipers and they are huge also. easy 3-4" longer
