NSW 4x4 Trials?

NSW 4x4 Trials?
I'm just wondering if there would be much interest in a NZ type 4x4 trials event if one was held in NSW. Below are a few videos of these events, the first two are fairly hardcore with purpose built buggies but the second two are a bit tamer and would be similar to what I'm thinking of. They would be for registered 4wds only and a bit faster paced than the traditional NSW club events such as Willowglen and Woodpecker etc.
The stages wouldn't have a bunted track to follow, there would be a series of course markers that would have to be driven in order. You would gain penalty points for mistakes rather than being declared DNF for stopping or touching the bunting. Have a look at the links and let me know what you think, would this style of event be popular in NSW, and would you enter it?

yes yes yes .
would love to have a comp like that here in nsw.
and im pretty sure everyone in our club would be keen as aswell
(thats for competing in ). it would be fun to watch as well no doubt .
the more comps in nsw/act the better as there isn't that much to drive anymore legally , and atm there is only 3 comps like willowglen , n/trials and toperi , so the more the better as it would help justify the $$$ one might want to put into their cars .
cheers Jai

This would definitely be something that most guys in our club would love to compete in. Looks to be a little different in driving style & stage layout too which is a good thing.
If this is something you want to "really" look into and start the ground work... maybe get in touch with some of the other clubs which have run events before for advice on where to start.(On all 4's, TLCC or Canobolas 4wd clubs)
Like Jai said too.... we need more comps here in NSW... seems QLD & Vic have a good range of different style comps all year round where we only have the likes of Willowglen, Nissan Trials(???) & hopefully again, Toperi Challenge.
As said before.... if you build it, they will come!!!
Goodluck!!

When in doubt..... UTE-ERIZE it!!!
that looks awesome and like a great idea.what levels of vehicles would it mainly be for as some of them look pretty basic like no lockers even???hope this does go ahead in some way as a few of us from tamworth will be interested....
sierra truggy,37 sticky treps,propane,6.5s and disconnect,lux diffs with spools,16" fox shox,hydro steer.
If it goes ahead it would cater for almost stockers up to say challenge class with a 37 inch tyre limit. there would be different stages for each class.Turbo Tonka wrote:that looks awesome and like a great idea.what levels of vehicles would it mainly be for as some of them look pretty basic like no lockers even???hope this does go ahead in some way as a few of us from tamworth will be interested....
J9 is pretty much stillborn. No venue and no time the issues.
But I hear the State Association (which in itself is the 4WD clubs of NSW) is trying to get a steering committee together to run the event in 2010.
Some clubs run their own 'gymkhanas' to some extent, and there are a few milder comps around (e.g. Son of Trials, Bushranger Clubkhana), but totally agree there could be more in NSW across the scope of different classes.

There wouldn't be any buggy's (Yet). No idea on classes yet but probably simular to CCDA classes, up to Challenge Class.Slunnie wrote:How do the classes work?
