What diff ratio for 4.8 auto and 35's

Post by tuf045 »

would like people thoughts on what diff ratio to suit 315/75/16 inch tyres on a 4.8 patrol auto. My thoughts are 4.11 but I am wondering if this will be to much? any one done it?

hi mate 4.1 s is the go, mate of mine has done it,its just like a gq with 4.2 and 35' use 4.6 works out about the same and plus 4.1's are cheap and your 3.5's are worth coin for the v8 diesel conversion's

Don't the 4.8's have 3.5:1 diff gears? If so 3.9s would be better.
4.6s with 35's is too much. 4.3 are ideal for anything with 3.9 diff gears standard and 35's

auto's rev a little low at cruise compared to manuals.
check out what your 5 speed cruises at, and then check out the auto.

when you go up a extra ratio in teh auto, it holds overdrive better and has more torque when cruising and loaded up.

yeah its an easy swap to just try the rear centre, if you like it then do the front.
