As far as an indecent proposal goes, I'd accept nothing less than $100,000 to tolerate buggery. Any less and it's just not worth the psychological trauma.
road worthys are not about how well the engine runs, though having replaced seals etc to stop oil leaks is important.
chances are that if they 'wont even look at it' then its because its not roadworthy.
when you say the body is rough, are we talking deformation in key areas like support pillars or chassis? or are we talking about crappy paint?
your wheels are larger than legal (afaik 33's is the limit for diameter, but some one might correct me on that model) and protruding past the guards, so illegal on two fronts, try getting some flairs so at least its only the diameter thats the issue.
putting on smaller wheels will lower its height, and remove 2 unroadworthy issues - so i would recommend this before even trying anywhere else. as it will de modify its appearance.
if appart from that it is just the cosmetic appearance then keep trying, most places will happily accept your money even if its to give you a fail notice. but then you know what needs to be fixed, and once you do those things it will pass.
i have never heard of places who wont even look.

Firstly why not take it down and get it checked out.clownman wrote:ok first of all i do not condone dodgy roadworthies but .....

If its that good, and only needs a few things, then fix them and get it passed.
If its genuinely dodgey, why would someone risk their license to pass it?
i had an old jackaroo that i got roadworthied in queensland..... and it passed, but it shouldnt have. it was rusted out in the chassis rails and the sill panels were a concotion of bog/fiberglass & coke cans, brakes were low, the cv boots were all split and the tyres were low. It was easier than getting a car registered here in SA!
although i would recommend that you make sure the vehicle is actually roadworthy... i have learned!

body is just ruff paint and a little rust in the rear quarters a tiny bit near the fuel filler front guads and onnet are fibreglass, ill post pics of it soon,, i have decided to carpet the entire floor with marine carpet buy some fj 45 seats and change the 5 point seat belts to standard seat belts, tyrs will definately be changed for next roadworthy try i think i have to just clean it up so it looks pretty
Im here for the sausage!
i would say this is no help to you but i got a blue slip for my HJ60 when i first got it and that was on 35's all leght yes it falled but only on RHF wheel bearing and washer bottle not working so tightened up wheel bearing and put water in the washer bottle.
i also got a pink slip for it not that long ago. and it looked like shit compared to your 40....every panel on it had a dint on, it was SOA with 2" springs NOT engineered, 2 smashed windos, 35's, no back bar, leaking front hub, turbo which i'am told needed to be engineerd, 3" zorst from the turbo back with no mufflers. and the list gose on......i think it comes down to where you take it and how up tight they are.
this is how it looked when it whent for blue slip
this is what it looked like when i took it for a pink slip

Tires are like boobs, they always look big until you have played with them for a while, then you just want a bigger set
