[NSW] Black Rat Challenge June long weekend 2009

Post by Mudboy »

The on all 4's 4wd club are thinking about hosting a competition similar to the previous black rat challenges. It will be held June long weekend 6th to the 8th.
We would like to know if there is interest out there for us to do this.

Location. The event will be held 10 minutes out of mudge on a property we have access to there.

Can you please let me know if your club is interested and we can confirm if we are going to run the event

It will be run the same way as the previous Black Rat Challenges and it is invitational and only open to clubs not the general public.

Thanks and Regards

We await to hear more details ;)

Great to see the NSW events coming back!!! :armsup: No doubt On All 4's will hold another great event!!!

I was just talking about this the other day with an All coast 4x4 member. The property i had in mind was Mirannie Mountain Wilderness Park near singleton.
Loyd(owner) has mentioned in the past this possibility.
There is only a couple of short sections at moment but thats easily fixed.

Stay tuned ;)

Although one major problem with Mirranie and a largish scale event is access. The creek crossing whilst easily negotiated and not a major issue for any 4WD, would no doubt get torn up and destroyed by a couple of dickheads which would no doubt turn up. Only need to see the damage caused by some doing donuts on the grass and the result of the idiot who crashed into the caravan to know there's plenty about who don't respect the place.

David, I'm pretty sure there would be a few interested from Blue Mountains 4WD Club :)

If you're talking 'similar to Black Rat', then are we assuming:

* Entry is by invitation to interested clubs only?
* Up to 8 courses, with marshalling help from invited clubs?
* Individual members of the invited clubs are therefore the only competitors (i.e. no 'non-club' members?)
* Courses to suit near-standard 4WDs?
* Family friendly event?

From the 'Black Rat Challenge' days, I know our club enjoyed the "participation and co-operation" feel of the event. We had a lot of fun, and it wasn't about sheep stations!

As for you Thunder: pack ya woollies & thermals mate!!!! :twisted:
Cheers, Tony

The Canobolas Club will be there for sure, to help or just play.

We love the cold, not. But the days will be great, with chilly nights to huddle around a camp fire.

is it not possible to put a couple of concrete culverts in to drive over?
there is even the possibility of getting plastic ones for temporary use.
or a quick bit of earthworks and put a basic dam and a concrete pipe then cover it in some gravel from the site?

The property is not the Mirannie Mountain Park, but it is private land the club has access to just on the outskirts of Mudgee.

At this stage we have not worked out costs etc, but now we know there is a lot of interest we will work costs etc and make formal contact to all the clubs we will be inviting after our next club meeting.

As per the prevous black rat challenges, there will be tracks suited to all cars, from the complete standard zook to the more extreme 4x4.

The event will be for club members only and not open to the general public.

And as per usual any assistance from other the other clubs running some of the events would be appriciated.

It may be a little cold but nothing a good camp fire won't fix.

David

What you're thinking of is more a Jamboree style event... The old Blackrat comp is sort of the next step up from that. I'm guessing this comp would be challenging but not where cars will get trashed, if ya get my drift.

Look at the original post for dates... should say the long weekend in June I think. ;)
