6 wheeler on beach?
How do you guys think a extended chassis six wheel turbo diesel patrol would go on the beach . the last axle is a lazy and the vehicle weighs 3T unladen.

It's a reasonable question, and to be honest i don't recall any threads in the past about this sort of thing. Plenty has been written about 6x4 performance in the bush but not on the beach as i recall.
If the guy doesn't have any experience taking this type of modded car on the beach then why not ask it. Coming from a guy who's posted plenty of popcorn threads of his own, i'd be inclined to keep your head below the parapets if i was you.

As to the question, it will be fine. As far as i'm concerned the lazy axle will provide extra ground pressure flotation on sand, particularly if the inflation pressures are down. There was a 6x4 GU featured in 4wdaction magazine not that long ago that seemed to do just fine.
Same as out in the bush there is a possibility i suppose of the rear axle holding the middle axle off the ground but i guess you just need to be aware of it. And your turning circle is going to suck even more than normal.

My parents had no troubles in an extended wheelbase toyota 7x dual cab with fully loaded trailer on fraser and various beaches all the way to the cape. Total weight fully loaded is a touch over 4t (ute, trailer, 12ft tinny, 2 fridges, spares and enough spares and supplies to last 3months) running 32"ish coopers
Nah I fully agree,rockcrawler31 wrote:why the popcorn loler?lolergram wrote:

I was genuinely going to enjoy this thread as I knew I would learn something new!
Popcorn can be taken in so many ways...

Don't expect to see my recipe, until I receive my cheque and collection fee
