1HD-FT rebuild

Post by dan_7 »

I have a 1HD-FT engine which needs a rebuild. The cylinder bores are out of spec and needs larger pistons. To reduce the cost of the rebuild I was considering using bore liners or sleeves and the old pistons, which in addition to the cylinder head and crank seem in decent shape.

I'm aware that 1H engines are sleeveless and therefore am concerned about the performance and engine longevity if I do use bore liners. In addtion to the above are IZUMI bore liners any good?

Any info with regard to the above would be highly appreciated.

Many thanks.

IMO the idea of fitting liners to the engine will be dearer than getting the engine bored and new pistons supplyed at the end of the day its your call but the thought of pulling the motor down in 40 thou would be my concern
id get it bored and new pistons fitted as a minimum.

x2, regarding something so seriously and costly ide do it properly the first time, i.e bored and oversized pistons. Then if looked after the motor should out last everything else.

my 2c worth.
