I am looking to do an engine conversion as follows,
Looking to install a G16B Vitara block with a G13BA Sierra cylinder head which has a rear facing sump with a matching oil pick-up. My understanding is that the G13BA cyliner head may not be compatible with the G16B block. Supposedly the preferred match is the G13A cylinder head.
The G13A engine is 1324 cc & the G13BA is 1298 cc.
The main reason for fitting a 1.3 litre head is to utilise my existing inlet manifold/carby & exhaust header so as to keep the conversion simple & costs down.
Any advice, suggestions or confirmation would be greatly appreciated.
Regards
Gino

1.3 to 1.6 litre engine conversion in a 1989 Sierra
It won't matter as to which G13 head you use, they're essentially the same. The biggest difference is just in some of the tappet covers, that the thread for the oil cap is different but that won't make any difference. Do you already have the block, because with what you're doing it wouldn't matter whether you use a G16A or B.

hi guys
thankyou for the responses/advice.
as i understand it the 1.3 litre cylinder head is different to the 1.6, having said this i may have misunderstood what i was being told.
the advice i was given by a local suzuki parts retailer/wrecker (in melbourne) was to utilise the 1.3 litre cylinder head with either the G16A or G16B engine block, in conjuction with an engine mount adaption kit, this should enable me to use my existing inlet carby manifold and exhaust manifold which i assume will bolt straight up.
i have already sourced a G16B 1.6 litre 16 valve fuel injected motor.
the other concern was, whether or not there was any differences between the G13A & G13BA cylinder heads, i would have assumed they were the same, however, i had mixed respones, but in saying this, the local suzuki parts retailer/wrecker advised that either 1.3 litre head could be used.
