Post by brentz »

hey guys how ya goin
well today my 60 series 3f engine decided to finally kill itself last draw for me now as ive done alot of work to this engine and its all been a waste!
anyway i wanna put another engine in and am unsure on wat type?
would love the v8 and see it as the easy option but gay laws for p platers dont approve
so was looking at a ford xflow engine etc type of conversionand keep it carbied!
few questions wheres best to get the kit?
will my gas system hook up?
wats some prices people have paid doin it them selfs?
wat are they like?
and can you thin of another type of engine?

as im on my p's to when i had my 60 i was looking for more power then what the 60 had but as you know you can't have V8's or turbo's but you can have diesel turbo's diesel V8's (you would think if there going to put a dumb ass law like that in they would look in to it more) any way i was looking into the 6BT Cummins good power turbo diesel and more then capable of a 12sec pass on the 1/4  the only down side to this was $$$

I wouldnt be pulling an 4.0L 6 cylinder out and then trying to convert a 4.2L 6 cylinder, that probably wont go any better, will cost money to convert and will need to be engineered

If you are stuck with a 6 cylinder because of DOT laws, then get another 3f. 4.5 litre 1fzf will be a headache to convert, the h55 gearbox wont last too long behind a 1fzf, so you would need a gearbox as well

I seriously would be putting in a 12ht, but for ease and cheap a 3f, then when you are off Ps, 3f eti (EFI, turbo, intercooled :-), V8s wont be able to keep up. look at Matt Mcinnes thread on IH8MUD.com ( and probably on here)

yer seen matts car on 3rd rock love it but motor not for me ;)
maybe thinking another 3f till i getoff me p's now unless i can find out more about a falcon 6
also i think the h55 gearbox will be plenty strong enough as my dads cruiser has a 350 chev behind it and not a problem i work at toyota and have seen them 2 be tuff as nails

i would just run with another 3f or 2f till ya off your p's bud, then go a v8 for shore, i would never run any thing else now that ive gone v8 in my 60s every thing about it is better so far. even cheaper to run.

Toyota never ran a H55 behind a 4.5 IMHO for good reason, tough they are, unbrakeable they are not. They will handle a V8 if you dont abuse it, but I know how i drove when I was young, I wouldnt use one behind a powerful engine. Even now.
