From what i can tell it's a factory joby and has some quite heavy wiring going and comming from it !!!
I realise it's not the actual sarter relay as that is in the back drivers corner of the engine bay .
Its not the actual starter not turning over ok its just sometimes it glows and other times it doesn't and at the same time it doesn't glow the filter warning lights , glow light , and battery warning light don't come on either at start up.
Has been suggested that i have got a dodgy power relay some where and only just found this one yesterday ( one behind glove box ).
Am hoping it's not the glow relay itself as this a $300 genuine part .
Have also cleaned and tightened every earth point on the car inside and out and pulled apart , cleaned every possisble factory plug on the possibility that i had a dry connection some where .
So to say i'mm getting frustrated with this little problem is to say the least .
As per your last post i have found what i beleive is all the light relays etc and know exactly where any after market relays are in the system .
Thanks Andrew

Well bugger me , this is starting to get beyond a joke as i have pulled apart and cleaned even more plugs this week and still no joy .
After more closer studies and taking notes etc this week gone i have noticed that the dash lights and glow system all work fine when warm ,( not that you bloody need then of coarse )
Do'es anyone here know whether the small voltage regulator on the back of the temp / fuel guage would be having anything to do with this latest discovery or am i chasing another dream.
Facts
When fully cold ,eg left overnight , the glow light when the ignition is turned on will flash on very dimly for a micro second but no other dash lights will light up except the park brake .
Once fully warm the glow and filter warning lights operate as normal and you can also here an extra relay clicking in and out but cannot work out which one this is as yet .
Have replaced the glow relay timer above the glove box also this week , with a second hand unit from the wreckers mind you and it has seemed to make no difference to anything
Like i have mentioned before in this post i have pulled every plug apart in the truck and cleaned , tightened and sprayed with wd40 and rpluged back together .
Have also cleaned all earth points throughout the engine bay and cab
Have discovereed that the relay behind the glovebox is for the heater fan
From what i could get out of the service manager at Oldmac Toyota at Cleveland Qld the other day , the lights / system is swithed off by a signal from the alternator once it fires up so this why i am wondering whether the little voltage regulator on the back of the guages is my problem in that it is mabey the feild pick up for the alternator and when doing what ever it does it is sending the wrong signal to the alternator which in return is playing havoc with the dash lights / glow system etc .
Can someone here please also point me in the direction of a full wiring diagram for a 85 HJ75 .
Any suggestions greatfully accepted
Thanks Andrew

Well.................. after 8hrs of checking ,pushing, prodding and so forth i believe i may have fixed it !!!!!
And the sorce of my problem you ask ,was ................. wait for it , the Alternator did not have a good enough earth to the engine block due to the fresh paint on evrything after the recent engine build .
Anway thanks for all suggestions and will hopefully see ya up a track soon .
