HJ47 mods
Just got myself a HJ47 ute to do up and I need a driveline for it. It has no negine, box, transfer, shafts, radiator. Its basically a rolling chassis. Am looking into what engine/trans combo is available and a good fit. I have seen a 253 in one - it was messy and too tight at the rear, chev looked OK but close to the steering box, and am also thinking about 250crossflow. Listening for pros and cons from those who have seen or done those conversions.
Not looking for ultimate rock crawling ability, just a good reasonable power for bush driving and still getting a reasonable range out of the fueltanks.

A good 12ht is going to cost about as much as an LS1 crate motor is IMO.AZZA'S HJ47 wrote:probably the best engine and gear box to put in the old hj47 would be a 12ht motor and a 5 speed gearbox would expect around 11-13l per 100 would make it a pretty streight forward fix up
I know id be going for the LS1 (l76 etc)
better economy than the old junk.
on lpg it will be much better than a diesel
power oh yeah
torque , excellent ( better again with a boat cam)
if you chuck a 307 or 327 you will have plenty of power without wasting un nessesary power/fuel with a 350.
