So whats it worth?

Post by BundyRumandCoke »

I will soon have the financial ability to finally upgrade from my old Rocky to something newer. Leasing a vehicle through salary sacrifice will soon be available to me. New and used vehicles can be leased.

A guy I work with has a 2005 3.0 ST Patrol wagon which he currently has on a 5 year lease. Approx 145000km on the clock. Virtually nil 4wding, as his missus doesnt like it. She wants him to get rid of it, and lease a sedan as a replacement. He reckons the residual would be roughly $26-28K. Vehicle has bullbar, spotlights, electronic rust protection, window tint, all from new. Vehicle has been serviced as per manufacturers specs (covered by cost of lease) and has a 1/2 inch exhaust system recently fitted.

I am sort of thinking along the lines of grabbing it, and adding snorkle, dual batteries, winch, and diff locks front and rear to the leasing cost. So, expecting say around the $35K mark. Mileage per year would be around the 30000km mark.

I havent had any experience with leasing a vehicle.

So, does the above figures make sense to all you Nissan gurus. For the money, would it be a good buy, or way too much?

Cheers
Bundy

As it turned out, it was worth just over $23000, that was the payout figure my lease paid to the old finance company. And its currently in Rocky ARB where rear locker, 2 inch suspension lift, and snorkle are being fitted. Front locker will be fitted when available. In the back when I get it back later this week will also be a 10000lb winch and dual battery kit. All that added an extra $8500 to the lease costs.
