60 series 2H engine pressure

hey guy i got a 60 seires 2h diesel motor and i got a 100 psi gauge, every time i start her up it jumps straight to 100+ psi i havent had any troubles with the motor as yet

should i be worried too much? is it easy to fix?

check the pressure relief valves there are 2 of these one is on the oil filter housing an the other is on the left hand side of the front timming case the valve has a nasty habbit of chewing out the timming case easy fix but. And yes a speedy fix would be recomended at 100 psi or higher you are probably going to blow seal if it aint fixed soon

Go to the bible Matt and download the Factory Manual. It's brilliant. It clearly shows where the relief valve is in the side of the timing case. It's on page LU - 8

i can replace the spring and plunger without pulling the timming case off??????????????????

i can just move a few things off to get to it?

On the 12H-T its under the power steering pump bracket on the drivers side of the engine right at the front. Should be the same as the 2H. Shouldnt need to remove the p/s pump to get to it either. From memory a 22mm ring spanner should get on it with no dramas.

While replacing the spring and plunger may work, my understanding is that the hole that the plunger fits into also wears, so the problem may persist..

yes i found that out but hoping i dont have to repalce it as its 435+ GST from toyota,

see if i can just clean them first if it dosent work then replace

What is that price for? The replacement plunger, spring, bolt and washer is around $20 all up from Toyota.

What is that price for? The replacement plunger, spring, bolt and washer is around $20 all up from Toyota.

nah that for the oil filter bracket itself is $435
and gasket $4.10+gst

for the valve on the filter
$8+gst $4.90+gst, $10+gst

timing case valve $18 bucks all up
i rang 2 different toyota,s and got compltly different prices

but problem is the 12ht has the same plunger and stuff that still dont fit

so thinking i have a 85-88 2h motor

your problem is not the reliefe valve on the oil filter bracket.

it is definantly the one on the timing case. I have had this problem on 2 2h's. And have seen it on plenty of others. The longer plunger has fixed a few, but doesnt fix all.

ah well i still have to do the oil filter reilf plunger cause i miss placed the it
and toyota only sell the whol bracket for $400 odd for modles 85 to 88
dont have $$$ for one so ill find next best thing

toyota also mass manufactured thier parts.

these are made in much smaller quantities hence the cost.

YOu could probably get one made by an engineers shop, but it would almost certainly be dearer.

Toyota may sell the original part cheaper, but this valve is different to the original.........
