I live at Bracken Ridge, work on Recliffe Peninsula.
Don't recall seeing you near the hospital, but I did see you once on the Gateway (when I was living Southside and commuting to Scarborough - that was fun!)
I was on your DAP course, with the racing slicks which couldn't follow your 3WD.
I saw in a post recently you mentioned wanting a sway bar disconnect - didn't you have one at the DAP?
Cheers,
Scott

Gee its a small world. Are you still in the club scott? I am at aspley currently but soon going out to albany creek. When grant gets his rig going we will all have to shoot up to LCMP for a weekend. I did have a disconnect then but retired it after it began to flare out the holes thru the bar and I got all worried but legalities and insurance cover. Just been unbolting it and leaving it in the boot, thats fine when the car is clean b4 you go playing but putting it back on a muddy car sux. Once i move i will finally have some room to strip the car down and fix it all up properly with some more good mods. What mods have you done since the DAP?
Grant how is your car going? We haven't heard much from you for a bit.
mike.

I'm still in the club, but we moved to a new house in December '02, so I don't get to play too often - haven't been out with the club since the DAP, and haven't been to a meeting since they moved to Coorparoo. I want to get out on some of the State Forest runs, but my girlfriend keeps finding work for me on weekends. I think Nerang is coming up soon - I want to try to get to that.
I go out with some friends occasionally, spent some time exploring Ormeau, but haven't done any of the creek tracks. Last weekend I went exploring around the Glass House mountains, but didn't find anything tricky - I didn't get out of 2WD!
Since the DAP I've done tyres, 2.5" exhaust and (just recently) OME suspension. I've got blocks, bolts and bumper brackets to do a body lift, just keep finding other things to do. After the body lift I want a larger tank (75 litres doesn't go far enough) and some sill protection. I've got an idea about sway bars, but waiting to discuss it with a bloke who should be able to tell me about reliability.
Cheers,
Scott

Did you get the blocks off dave christensen? There are alot of good hard tracks at the glasshouse mountains. I don't exactly know where they are cause i was on them in a night run but i guy i go wheeling with was there only a few weeks back and he found them again. you need a permit to go in there though.

Yep, Dave's blocks.
We explored under some power lines, looked promising but was quite easy, then we found a few water crossings, barely wet the bull bar, and we were back on bitumen. A "4WD track" we found on a map was heavily populated by Commodores and Falcons towing bike trailers!
I'm sure there would be some fun stuff in there somewhere, but as you say, you need a permit. A friend of mine had a lot of hassles with some government department because they found his car parked on the wrong side of the signs, and wanted to fine him for it. Don't know the outcome...
I've only had to be recovered once since the DAP - I'm not trying hard enough!
Cheers,
Scott

Hi Mike and Scott,
haven't seen either of you for ages, it's about time you came along on some of the club trips. I'm running one to LCMP at the end of June, and we are going to Black Duck in late March, so why not come along and play.
see you
John

3.5 L with too much stuff, and a front locker waiting on the shelf.
I was at the gymkana few months back, and...well thats the olny club event i've been to since the DAP. I get the mothly book and go straight to the trips section, only to find that they are all rated easy or scenic and then sometimes i get excited when it says medium only to find it also says "if conditions are wet". I think i am in the wrong age bracket for the club trip wise but i do enjoy reading the newsletter.
Scott, I got daves bullbar off him and some other spares he had about. Did you get one of those army recovery kit bags off him? They are awesome.
mike.

I didn't see his army bags - if they are anything like some army bags I've seen I can imagine they are good.
I agree with your comments about club trips - too many of them seem to be scenic/easy. I'm only interested if there are medium options (not sure my vehicle is up to hard - I suppose there's only one way to find out!)
I also find the magazine normally arrives the day after the meeting. If it arrived a day or two before I'd probably remember the meeting more often.
LCMP sounds good, but I'll need to book the weekend in advance!
Cheers,
Scott
