Re: gq under bonnet insulation
I asked this once before and was told wreckers is your best hope. but most in wreckers I saw were fubar.
actually you want to keep the heat in , if the bonnet heats up ,the air going into your vents becomes hot , or if you have a bonnet scoop and top mount , the air going over your bonnet to the scoop heats up
and cool i need some of this stuff as i pulled some off when i fitted the scoop but the section that is missing is right infront of the scoop and heats up the bonnet heaps compared to where the insulation is still intact

The insulation actualy keeps the bonet cooler on top and I have a water air intercooler with the heat exchanger in the front so that I get the benifit of a front mount without the lag plus water has a better cooling efficiecy. The scoop on my bonnet is more to cover the hole than anything but the more air flow the better. I also have heat insulation between the IC and tappet cover now to reduce heat soak, and up here in Darwin my IC sits around 40deg C even on the hottest days it doesn't get above 50deg C when getting stuck into it. A air to air IC just gets hotter and hotter when under load ie; towing uphill and cannot maintain an even temperature.
