What Lfit in GQ to fit 37-38's?
- Extra body-to-chassis movement
- Extra stress on body mount bolts
- Shorter gear stick for the short-armed people
- Reduced cooling efficiency (radiator moves up with the body-engine fan stay still)
- Not a big deal, but adjusting brake lines, fuel lines, fuel fillers, intake lines, wiring etc etc etc
I'm sure it appeals to some people, but i'm a BL hater. I hated the "feel" that my body had moved up from the chassis, plus i'm of the opinion that a lot of people steer clear of BL's when purchasing a car due to the fact that almost any backyarder can fit a BL. A lot of people put BL's in because its a cheap aternative to a suspension lift ($150 vs $1200), not because they had to overcome a particular technical hitch such as bonnet clearance for a big motor (or a nice laminova intercooler ), or for that extra bit of tyre clearance.

And after a while body mounts will start failing, my 2 inch body lift ripped 2 bolts out of the body mounts 1/2 up the cape driving on corrigations. in my opinion the reason that people are having problems is when the bolts work loose.
its a good idea to periodically go over the nuts to check they're torqued up and definetly after a month or so after fitting, once it has settled in.
ive fitted 2 bodylifts, 1 to my old rangie (40mm ),and 1 to my patrol (50mm) and ive never had a problem and my rangie spent 2 years travelling the country taking in every offroad trek you can think of, from cape york to balladonia track, but that doesnt come close to the punishment my patrol gets these days.
i think if you just get a 4wd shop to fit it and then you just forget it you may run into problems.

and just watch "trimming" as i would suggest trimming on any newer truck would again have to have some effect on resale.... possibly as most seem to be done unprofessionally.. imho on an old play gq however why not!

A bit off topic but when i bought my truck the body lift had supposedly been done by a reputable place (i think it's actually 40mm and not 50mm which is better ), but i still had to lengthen the fuel filler hose. If you go down that road there is a lot that needs adjusting and personaly i don't think a b/l is worth it. The only reason I haven't reversed mine is because the front/rear bars have been set up for it.
Back on topic there is notrhing wrong with a 2" lift, 3" lift is more than adequate and if you have a few spare $ then i'm a big fan of 4" lifts
