gu spare wheel question

Post by scibe23 »

gday all
my old man is looking at getting a 06 gu patrol whick has 37inch tyres.
we are wondering what we can do for a spare wheel. what is the max size that would fit on the standard wheel carrier?
also if a tyre of that size wouldnt fit, what we would be able to for a spare besides putting wheel in the rear of the car.
feedback would be greatly appreciated asap.

a 37" is way too much weight to have on the door,

only option is a rear bar with wheel carrier, weather it be kaymar, ARB or a custom job,

just might have to see if a 37 will fit on a kaymar or ARB bar,

i should have said you could get it to fit, but if your looking for your door to last a life time, i would highly recomend not bolting it onto the door,

just chuck a 33"on. It will do the job of getting you out of where ever you are. Just remember to chuck it on the front and disengage the hubs when driving it home

35 and 37 will fit with spacers. As said, if you want your back door to last do it properly and fit a wheel carrier aswell. I have seen a GU door crack over time under the weight of a steel rim and 285/75/16 on it. :?

this spare will have a 18inch micky thompson alloy with internal beadlocks, would this make any difference?
where would you be able to get spacers from and how much?

as said 10 times, if you want your door to last then either get a rear bar, or toss the tire on a roofrack... The doors have big cracking problems with 285's on them. so do what you will.

the spacer is ARB and $100ish...
