Grease types

Hi all

I have searched on here and Patrol forums and i'm interested in what all of you are using in the way of grease for general, cv's, wheel bearings etc.

Gregory's manual states molybdenum disulphide (lithium soap based) for cv's, high melting point lithium base for wheel bearings, multi purpose lithium for all other uses, then I read some threads which state that some are using marine grease in their bearings/cv's?

I'm interested to know what grease you use for cv's and wheel bearings, what brand and type and your thoughts please.

(Mods might be keen to put this in the bible if it proves worthwhile).

i normaly pick up the grease and read what it is suitable for , be it cvs , bearings , universal joints etc , and if it suits the application i grab it

i use castrol moly grease in the CVs and gulf western Red Lith Grease in everything els.

Well I would have thought that would be the obvious as well, but i've read threads where someone has done just that only to be advised that they have used the wrong grease, even to the extent of phoning the 1-800 number and being advised to use a different type of product.

I tried Repco & Supercheap here but they stocked stuffall.

I use lithium based grease where ever high temperatures are present as the normal standard grease is produced from clay (I think or something close to) and when it gets heated it starts to get turned back into a form of clay or watever which is very abrasive, something that you don't need in bearings and uni's etc if they can get hot.
