Hilux Surf Diff + Gear Oils

Post by matty__j »

Have a 89 Surf Import i need to change all of the oils in, front + back diffs, trans case and gear box oils. I understand the oils in the
front is different from the back diff, but the gearbox and trans case are the same grade???

Ive heard here in Australia rather than Japan its a good idea to use a thicker oil than what the manufacturer suggests to compensate for the heat here, anyone ever dealt with this before and can suggest which oil weights are best for the truck?

Cheers, Matt

the rear will need lsd oil as the rear diff is a limited slip diff and i think VMX80 would be a good oil for the front diff and g/box
