G6 2.6 motors

Post by Nev62 »

I don't own a Mitsubishi but my Raider is powered by a G6 2.6 motor. So thinking you guys would be in the know, do these motors respond to a bit of tweaking for more power (ie extractors chip mods for the EFI and so on). And if so then what would be the greater improvement for the Dollar? :?

I assume your talking about the Mazda 2.6 EFI (I think they are a 3 valve/cylinder head ??). Earlier Bravo's and Raiders did have Mitsu carby 2.6's.
I don't know a lot about these motors but I guess you can start with the basics like exhaust (extractors/free flowing mufflers) and intake (snorkel/sports air filter). Beyond that a chip is about all you can without removing the head. What power gains you will achieve with this motor I cannot tell you. Or you can go for a turbo and get some serious power.
It all depends of course on how much you want to spend...............
I just luv my "clacker Jabber"

Yep, raider=courier=B2600. EFI, 2 inlet valves, 1 outlet per cyl. The block is the same as the 92 magna. I was thinking of turbo or supercharger a litter further down the track but if a triton V6 will bolt up to the gearbox... :) In the short term, I'm looking to get more out of the 2.6 to drive larger wheels (34"). Transfer case is only 1:1/2.21:1 so is going to run outta puff even faster.

Tried that, they don't make them any more and when they did, seems they only had adaptors for TH350 slush boxes.
